I’ve never been one to advocate that new mums diet. Rather, if they ask, I explain to them that it takes about a year to get your figure back. Nevertheless, I’ve personally had some modest success in speeding up that process with fresh fruit smoothies.
Fresh, that is, in the sense that I try to make one each morning, although much of the fruit comes in a can or out of the freezer. And the result is delicious, as well as satisfying. Plus it leaves me a little more license to indulge my chocolate filled desires.
That does not, however, mean that I’m exactly fading away, and so the last thing I needed was for Jet Lag Dad to torpedo my efforts. I mean, I ask you, how is anyone, let alone a Turkish Delight adoring woman like me, meant to say no to two tins of the finest?
He meant well, of course. He always does. And I shouldn’t have snapped when he presented his thoughtful gift. It was just that I knew that sooner or later, despite my protestations, I’d be unable to resist.
Plus, when all is said and done, it would be churlish to disappoint him. And after all, Edible Baby isn’t even three months old, so what’s the hurry?
