Over the past few days there has been a resurgence of interest in the case of Madeleine McCann, the little girl who was abducted five years ago. Maddy’s parents, doctors Kate and Gerry McCann, have said that they feel more hopeful now than at any time in the last year.
The main reason for their greater optimism is the exhaustive review of all the evidence being undertaken by The Metropolitan Police. The police have also issued an updated photograph of what Madeleine might look like now.

Listening to the McCann’s, it impossible not to be moved by their dignity and courage as they continue to do everything they humanly can to find their daughter. The living hell that they have had to endure is almost too painful to imagine.
As a doctor and a mother, I am humbled by Kate McCann’s strength and determination. I doubt that I would be capable of the same.
I do not know whether it is some comfort to the MacCanns to know that people like you and me care about what is happening to them. I do know is that It is well past time for the MacCann family to be together again.
